Rob Mounsey's 333 Studio opened in late 2002. It is located between
Charlton and Van Dam on Hudson Street in lower Manhattan. It
occupies 1200 sq. ft. of space on the tenth floor of a newly renovated
loft building. Beautiful views of the Hudson River and the New
Jersey skyline are featured. A spacious, acoustically
optimized recording booth, a large production room, and comfortable
client accommodations comprise the layout. Microphones
are by Neumann, Josephson, AKG, and Milab. Loudspeakers are
by Alderson Acoustics and Quested, microphone preamps by Avalon
and LaFont, instruments are by Emu, Roland, Yamaha,
Korg and Hammond-Suzuki. A 42" plasma display is provided
for video presentation. Rob's treasured 1905 Steinway B piano resides
in the studio, and also a large collection of unique
musical instruments from around the world are housed
here. This facility was designed and built by
noted design firm Alderson Acoustics, LTD.
333 Studio has hosted numerous high-profile
sessions since opening, including Rob's production of
Leslie Mendelson's debut CD for Rykodisc, Deborah Cox's Destination Moon, Aaron Neville's Nature Boy album and projects for Phil Ramone
and Russ Titelman.
Rob's facility has undergone a major technical upgrade under
the direction of Alderson based on a state-of-the
art ProTools HD 192 system, a Mac G5-2G and a
23" Apple Cinema display. Two remote LCD monitor
displays, and a plethora of the latest plug-in processing complete
the new installation.
